Week 2

schedule week 2
Week 2 started with a day off on Martin-Luther-King day. We used that day to went by coach on trip to Washington D.C. . The excursion was organized by a NA-student from Washington D.C. When we we arrived we got possibility for a walk around Washington Mall and visited Washington Monument,  War Memorial, White House and other government buildings. After short Starbucks stop we returned to Quantico in the early afternoon.

In week two the life and study became more and more intensive. I still got up at 5.30am, convinced myself to swim a mile for Bluebrick, ate breakfest and attended lessons from 07:45 am until 05:00pm. It’s a latent pressure to manage all requirements and expectations– but it works. Meanwhile I have to prepare 11 written papers (each 4-6 pages) and 3 presentations. The lectures expect quality, so we have to research in library and work until the late evening hours. That’s why time management becomes more and more important.

The unbeliefable health and fitness instructor E.J. O‘ Malley also increased PT (physical training) immediately. It seem’s that we are always on the run between breakfest, course-room, locker- room, gym  and a lot of additional events.

On Wednesday the whole session passed the first weekly challenge. The so called „Tin-Man-Trot“ is a 1,5 Mile fast running.  We did it the best we can and suceeded.  It’s nice to see the cross aproval and motivation. „Good job, guys!“ Next challenges will become harder. Each Wednesday we’ll pass another challenge with increasing difficulty in preparation of „Yellow-Brick-Road“.  Wednesday afternoon was official photo-taking. We had to change from uniform to business attire. Everything was excellent prepared and professional.

After a short break the next event was scheduled – the so called Patch/Pin Night. We met in Atrium and changed business-cards, patches and coins. That was a very impressive event. I got a lot of items and stuff. Everybody was happy and proud to represent his or her police force. Thank’s again for supporting me. My other foreign and U.S. students will take Mecklenburg-Vorpommern into the whole world – an amazing imagination.

Later we met at board-room. Oh my god, no – we stepped right into Karaoke night, and yes – I did it.

Thursday allday business started. We discussed in courses about analysis approaches, biases, heuristics, victimology, crime-scenes, leadership, handling of addiction-injuries in police. Interesting all the time, good lectures, open discussions.  After lunch we attended plenum-presentation of a guest speaker. He focussed on leadership- virtues like integrity, pride, honor, honesty, duty and reliability.  I agree that but from perspective of a German senior officer a little bit overload. After 8 hours uniform I changed to business suit and escorted Sheriff Dave Bushey to Richmond/Virgina. We attended a government meeting. He showed me the old historical government building. Later we went out to Texas Steakhouse. I got a real good steak-very tasty.

End of the week I passed another miles in pool, went on a running track, worked out in the weight room,  did my laundry and worked couple of hours on my paperworks. By the way I talked to my buddies around. It’s always nice to hear about different cultures, different life-styles and familiy histories. Saturday evening we went out for Potomac Mall. I didn’t find another pair of running-shoes. So I decided to order at Amazon. It should be work.  Later we went out for beer. Captain Matt Ayers always care for us – Thank’s Matt! At „Paddys“ we stepped into another Karaoke session. Klodian from Albania rocked the scene when he performed in Spanish. After a nice evening we went back to FBI-Academy.
Sunday we spent very quite. In the late afternoon we met a gym for football or „soccer“ match.
